The National Team works closely with the programme originators, TFC Consultants at the Oregon Social Learning Center (OSLC), in a Network Partnership agreement. OSLC provides the National Team with consultancy, training and development materials. In turn the National Team provides these services and resources to the local project teams, offering:
This innovative method of project management includes formal reviews and feedback to the project teams, live and video supervision, and written feedback to ensure the teams are given optimum support in taking the programme forward. It represents in itself a further advance in the development of MTFC services in Europe.
As MTFC Network Partner, the National Team provides consultation to new teams wishing to develop the model for adolescents in the UK outside of the DCSF-funded pilot project.

After a degree in Psychology at Bristol University, Stephen Scott studied medicine at Cambridge University. He was then a Paediatrician for five years, including working with premature babies at the Royal London Hospital, and with psychosomatic cases at Great Ormond Street Hospital. After that he trained with Professor Sir Michael Rutter in Child Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital/Institute of Psychiatry, where he has worked ever since.
Rosemarie Roberts – Project Director

Rosemarie Roberts is a consultant systemic family therapist, previously a social worker and a teacher, who has worked in education, social services and CAMHS over a 30-year period. She has worked for the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust for the last 12 years, in both research and clinical roles. She has managed the National Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care in England Programme, funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), for the last four years and is based at the Maudsley Hospital in London. She also works for the newly established National Academy for Parenting Practitioners. Her specialist interests are in parenting and the needs of children looked after.
Dawn Walker – Manager

Dawn Walker joined the MTFCE National Team in 2004. She is Project Manager for the North, based at Booth Hall Children’s Hospital in Manchester. She has been Site Consultant for several MTFCE teams based in the North and Midlands and has trained many teams and foster carers in the MTFCE model. Prior to joining the MTFCE National Team she worked with Children Looked After for over twenty years in both Social Care and CAMHS, using a variety of clinical interventions. In addition she has worked with women experiencing violence from men they know, young people with sexual behaviour problems, families in the child protection process, and children and families using CAMHS Tiers 2-4. She has expertise in consultation, supervision, evaluation and clinical leadership. She taught family therapy in Leeds and currently teaches family therapy within Central Manchester and Manchester Children’s University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Cath Connolly – London
BSc Hons, MSc PGDip
Cath is a Systemic Psychotherapist and is also trained in CBT with Children and Adolescents. Over the past 16 years, she has worked in child and adult services in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Early in her career she worked in Children’s Residential Units and EBD school settings with young people who had complex presentations, including high levels of offending and undiagnosed mental health problems. Since 2000 she has worked for CAMHS in South London & Maudsley Foundation Trust, and in a specialist Eating Disorder service since 2001. She is a Clinical Supervisor at The Institute of Psychiatry for their MSc Systemic Psychotherapy training. She works part time as an MTFCE Consultant. Cath is based at the Maudsley Hospital in London.
Kate Friedmann – Manchester
BSc, (Hons), MPhil, (Psychology), Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
Kate has been a Site Consultant and Trainer with the MTFCE National Team, since November 2007. She is based in Manchester and works three days in MTFCE and two days in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), as a Clinical Psychologist. Prior to joining MTFCE, Kate worked within CAMHS and within a multidisciplinary, citywide service for Looked After Children. She has experience working therapeutically with children and families, and has a particular interest in working with adolescents who have experienced trauma. Kate also has experience in delivering training and consultation to a wide range of professionals. Kate currently consults to three sites running the MTFCE-A (Adolescent) Programmes.
Megan Jones – London
BSc(Hons) Psychology, MPsychol (Clinical)
Megan Jones is a Clinical Psychologist trained at the University of New South Wales, Australia. Following her graduation she worked in the field of Adult Mental Health, Child and Family Health and Neuropsychology. In 2003 she moved to the United Kingdom, to work for North Staffordshire Combined Health Service. Initially she worked with parents and young children in the Sure Start and Behaviour Education Support initiatives before moving on to lead the development of a mental health inreach service in a Young Offenders Institution. In 2007 she worked to develop services under the governments RESPECT agenda helping parents who have children or young people at risk of becoming involved in antisocial behaviour. Megan has presented at several conferences including Talk to Your Baby – Communication Consequences Conference and Stoke Speaks Out Conference on effective parenting and the potential impact of trauma on the developing mind. Megan has trained extensively in range therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapies, dyadic developmental psychotherapy, narrative therapy, EMDR and Triple P – Positive Parenting Program.
Colin Waterman – Manchester

Colin is a Site Consultant and Trainer with the MTFCE National Team and is based in Manchester, England. He has been with the team since July 2007 and is currently consulting to four sites who are using the MTFC Adolescent Programme. Prior to this he worked for Leeds City Council as one of the managers of the Leeds Therapeutic Social Work Team. This is a joint Social Care and CAMHS initiative focusing on the mental health of children, young people and their families. He has extensive experience of delivering training and consultation work to a wide range of staff within the NHS and Social Care. He was also the Course Organiser for two years (2005 - 2007) for the Foundation Course in Family Therapy at Leeds University where he continues to be a visiting lecturer.
Brigitte Wilkinson – London
MA (Hons) Psychology, MScChildDevelopment, DClin Psychol, Cert Family Therapy
Brigitte joined the MTFCE National Implementation Team after 10 years working as a Clinical Psychologist within the NHS. She has worked with children with special needs, in Tier 3 CAMHS services and managing Sure Start Psychology services in London. Her clinical and research interests are in attachment, parenting and the impact of child sexual abuse. As a site consultant and trainer for MTFCE she has taken a lead on co-ordinating the writing of an Education Worker Manual and, together with Nicola Cosgrave, on a service evaluation study of Foster Carers’ views of MTFCE.
